I was hoping for a bit more of them golden drops, but I guess it's better to stay safe and progress as drops will surely come, albeit later rather than sooner. He's definitely doable, once you know what you are doing. Ideally you have a SC character as well to test things out first. But I don't think that is the case, right?

The main two dangers indeed are Nihl's CE and the Viper clouds, although those witches can sometimes pack a punch as well. I went with full Fire myself, and that worked really well to be honest.

You still need an Infinity though. I would think that, at level 97.75, you already have some HRs, so that you aren't that far from Infinity, no?

And you'll still have a lot of CS runs in front of you before you can tackle Nihl, so unless you are very unlucky, I'd think that the runes needed will have dropped by then. Click to expand.I have actually started a SC sorc to try and gauge some Nihl runs and get a feel for what I might like to be doing. Leveling her now through NM as lightning. Its much more laid back, a nice change of pace that's for sure! What's generally accepted in terms of transferring items from HC to SC? Maybe GoMule doesn't even allow it, but I was just considering giving myself some starter gear (Shako, Vmagi, Occy) with obviously no intention of transferring them back. If this is frowned upon, then I have no problem avoiding it.

I actually did read and watch some of the fire sorc write-ups after I made my initial post and I am quite intrigued by that spec as well, keeping all of my options open for now. As for the Infinity, I do have the runes for it currently, or at least I could cube up the second Ber. My problem is I don't use the RWM at the moment. I suppose it's something I could easily add in and have thought about it for other items (looking at your Spirit/Insight/Grief/Fort!) but was just asking around to check its necessity. Agreed, Infinity is strongest option by far for any Nihl running Sorc. Immune rolls will decrease XP/h a lot otherwise, irrespective of build. Also went Lightning with CM despite not having Griffon and low number of skillers (he found Griffon pretty late from Nihl himself IIRC) and still had higher XP/h numbers than non-lightning builds.

He also had S&E lag, so IMO it basically confirmed Lightning as go-to build even without top gear. If you don’t like it, FB/Meteor is not too far behind, and ran Blova so that works too.

A bit confused by your post above. You cannot transfer any items on characters in this challenge because it’s untwinked (using only gear found by that character). Great progress everyone and as always very interesting and entertaining to follow and read.
